Tamborinyoka journalistic ratiocination of Mnangagwa 'meteoric rise' befit one of a pig collecting pearls!

Luke Tamborinyoka, Morgan Tsvangirai's spokesman, is one of the MDC leaders who have been trying to rewrite MDC's pathetic history of corruption, incompetence and betrayal; giving events a new spin so MDC are seen as heroes instead. This is exactly what Luke tried to do in his latest article Mnangagwa - when stealing votes for the boss gets rewarded in Bulawayo 24 Opinion Column.
"The media is an industry whose anxieties I understand so well, an industry where I spent over a decade slugging it out on the beat and left as chief news editor of a popular daily newspaper and secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ)," Luke wrote.
So Luke was a "chief news editor of a popular newspaper and secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists"! Well he is certainly a representative sample of the worst in the country's media profession. The fact someone as incompetent as Luke was ever elected to lead ZUJ, speaks volumes of those in this profession but explains why the whole nation had no clue Mugabe and Zanu PF were going to rig the 31 July 2013 national elections until 12.00 noon that day, for example. If the journalists, whose principle task is to inform and educate the public, did not have a clue, as Luke readily admits, how can the public be any wiser!
"Mnangagwa and his boss (Mugabe) were visibly in very high spirits at the press conference, so I am told by colleagues with whom I spent over 10 years in my other life as a journalist." Luke was relating what happened at a press conference called by Mugabe of 30 July 2013, the day before the voting day.
Mugabe and Mnangagwa were in high spirits because by then it was clear their vote rigging schemes were going to be implemented without a hitch and the party was assured of a landslide victory. Of course they were in high spirits, who would not be! If Mr Tamborinyoka and his local journalists had not been fast asleep then they would not have been surprise at Mugabe's cheerful disposition because by then the writing was on the wall that the Zanu PF was going to rig the elections.
The international media had been in the SADC, MDC donors and the rest of the international community camp who had been warning MDC of the dangers of going into the elections without implemented the democratic reforms. It was clear, without the reforms, the elections would not be free, fair and credible; Mugabe and Zanu PF would rig the vote. This was clear to everyone else except MDC leaders and many of our local journalists, Luke's friends.
In the article, Mr Tamborinyoka had the audacity to describing yourself and his journalist friends as a "curious" lot. Yes good journalists must be curious but no one can use those two adjectives in describe Luke and his friends with a straight face because they failed to notice even the most obvious facts. They failed to notice that the regime had failed to realise the voters roll; elections without the voters roll is as nonsensical as Christianity without the Bible! They also failed to smell the rat when on 29 July 2013, two days before voting day, the number of polling stations was increased from 2 000 to a staggering 9 000.
So instead of asking Mugabe why the voters roll had never been realised although it is a legal requirement; why the number of polling stations had been increased four and half times overnight; or hundreds other pressing and relevant questions all Luke's friend, Columbus Mavhunga asked Mugabe why Mnangagwa was at the press conference.
"Mr President, on the eve of an election which many say might be your last election, which you deny of course, you are seated next to Defence minister Mnangagwa in the absence of your deputy. Is it a way, just referring to Mnangagwa, who is also seen by others as someone who is vying to take over, is it a way of endorsing him or anything?" asked Mavhunga.
Mugabe dismissed the stupid question with the excuse that Mnangagwa was there on other business and Mugabe had allowed him to attend the press conference.
But Luke thought so highly of Mavhunga's stupidity that he has written a whole article round it.
"I make reference to this press conference on the eve of the last election as it provides important detail that puts into perspective Mnangagwa's new position in both party and government," explained Luke. "This episode places Mnangagwa at the epicentre of the shenanigans of the so-called election of July 2013 and probably explains his meteoric rise."
Right! Now we know why MDC did not implement not even one reforms to stop Mugabe rigging the elections and denying the people the democratic changes and free, fair and democratic elections the nation was literally dying for; so we can see who is "at the epicentre of the shenanigans" – Mnangagwa.
So all the five GNU years meant to stop Zanu PF shenanigans were wasted because MDC, in their infantile wisdom changed the end objective from ensuring free and fair elections to let us allow the elections to be rigged so we can see who is at the centre of the rigging.
Well now we know Mnangagwa was at the centre of the vote rigging and he has been rewarded with the VP position; what good is that to us? You telling us all this as if you expect the nation to shower you with praise and approbation for your journalist insight!
Ever since the rigged July 2013 elections you and your equally incompetent colleague in the Tsvangirai entourage, Alex Magaisa, have been come up with one article after another trying to falsify MDC's pathetic performance and betrayal of the nation throughout the GNU years by retelling what happen with a new heroic spin. So instead of apologising to the nation for MDC breath-taking incompetence and betrayal in allowing Mnangagwa to have his "meteoric rise" you telling us of it as if the whole thing is a great MDC achievement.
What a team you lot made; in the front, Morgan Tsvangirai, MDC President (a certified village idiot); his chief legal advisor Alex Magaisa on the right, (so incompetent, he failed to Tsvangirai to get even one reform implemented, not one); and one the left hand his spokesman, Luke Tamborinyoka (with journalistic instinct of a pig collecting pearls). The three amigos of Zimbabwe politics; the most useless and incompetent political team of our time!
