May we have some service please

The deplorable state of the roads in the high density suburbs leaves one to wonder whether City Council of Harare is operational or not. With the rains onset again, another ugly face of floods is certain for the sunshine city.

There are literally gorges all the way into residential streets of the western suburbs with ghetto dwellers resenting that Zimbabwe recently hosted "world cup yenhodo," hence the presence of potholes of all sizes and nature.

There is no honour in not quitting when one has virtually failed to deliver let alone comment on any plans to address a myriad of problems that are dogging the City Council. Honourable Chombo please deliver us from the so called Town Clerk Tendai Mahachi and his cronies.

He should do the noble thing and resign if he cannot live up to the expectations of the people he serves. Can't a vote of no confidence be passed to these fat cats at town house?

Surely corporate governance is amiss at this critical institution which is seized with the collection of rates to service the city of Harare. The town house is packed with idle minds and incompetent staff who are top-heavy to sustain lucrative administration.

A drive in Warren Park, Mufakose, Budiriro and Glen Norah is now a nightmare. Please attend to this physical hazard on our roads. There is no effort what so ever to attend to the roads which are in a sorry state altogether. There is also so much chaos in and around Harare Central Business District.

No sector of council can be said to be functional as they are failing to contain even noise pollution as new form of vendors have emerged, touting of rat and cockroaches poison. A stroll in the Central Business District during weekend, will give one the impression that they have gotten to auction floors or agricultural produce market.

Council officials ought to be serious and deliver to the public whose monies are evidently being flashed down the drain at Town House.

Refuse collection is erratic exposing residents to garbage at their door steps as the waste heaps. In Budiriro extension where there are council serviced stands, the city officials cited heavy rains as a hindrance to refuse collection. The residents are left with no choice but to dump litter everywhere posing a heinous health hazard.

The City Officials are losing control of Harare to all sorts of lawlessness and shenanigans. Maybe the idea of a new capital in Mt Hampden can be fast tracked and we start afresh with proper administrative framework.
