DARE Statement on the pending by-elections

26 Mar 2015 at 13:45hrs | Views
Ensuing the ruling by the Speaker of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate to recall from Parliament seventeen (17) Members of Parliament and four (4) Senators from the Movement for Democratic Change, the Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment National Executive Committee (DNC) sat on the 20th of March 2015 and came up with a resolution to participate in the pending by-elections in the 17 constituencies.

The DNC overrode its previous resolve not to participate in the two constituencies Mt Darwin West and Chirumhanzu-Zimbagwe Constituencies previously held by former Vice President, Joyce Mujuru and the current Vice President Emerson Mnangagwa, respectively, citing irregularities in the application of the electoral laws of the country by both President Mugabe and the Zimbabwe Election Commission (ZEC).

While we acknowledge that the irregularities still exist, we believe our failure to take part in any impending vote could provide Zanu-PF with a one-sided pro to fuse its throttlehold on power at a time the ruling party has failed to lift Zimbabwe from its political and economic morass.

Zimbabwe's economy is plunging towards a chasm, and President Robert Mugabe and Zanu-PF have no clue how to curtail the deluge. So if the opposition miss the mark to participate in the election, this will dwindle opposition politics charitabling Zanu-PF a spell to convalesce lost ground ahead of the 2018 elections. That will make it extremely problematic for the opposition to present a challenge to Zanu-PF in 2018.

We are not going to give Zanu-PF the 21 seats on a silver-platter and we know the imports of charitably triumph a party such as Zanu-PF.

Dare kwese kwese!!!!!
IDale yonke indawo!!!!
