Tsvangirai's diplomatic offensive of shame unearthed
27 Mar 2015 at 10:56hrs | Views
When the MDC-T leader, Morgan Tsvangirai left the country for the USA, the country was told by his spin doctor, Luke Tamborinyoka that his boss was on the journey to tell the west that the economic situation in the country was deteriorating fast and that the country was back to its abusing of human rights activities following the abduction of Itai Dzamara, a journalist-turned political activist by unknown assailant some few days ago.
The country heard that Tsvangirai was going to meet high profile people in the USA government who were going to listen to what the situation was like in the country. Apparently buoyed by allegedly huge turnout to his rallies some few weeks ago the former Prime Minister was according to his office, going to hold high level talks with US officials as part of a diplomatic mission that had since seen him allegedly writing to SADC, the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) highlighting the country's so-called myriad of problems.
Tamborinyoka told those who cared to listen to him that his president was going to the USA on a diplomatic offensive which Tsvangirai was going to make more diplomatic offenses in line with the deteriorating situation in Zimbabwe. Tamborinyoka was full of power and strength when he churned out such statements onto the media in the hope that Tsvangirai's journeys to the western world would be publicized with the due respect it deserved.
As such the country was left looking forward to hear more about what Tsvangirai is going to do in the USA as his briefcase was full of alleged reports which he was going to present to his USA funders. The MDC-T fraternity were expecting good results from their leader's sojourns in the western countries. They even expected the USA to welcome their leader with open arms hopping that the visit there would be fruitful.
Tsvangirai's journey and also the MDC-T fraternity's anxieties on that was bolstered by the recent reports in the media that the USA's Council On Foreign Relations has predicted that in the coming eight(8) to fifteen(15) months there would be crisis in Zimbabwe that would precipitate regime change. So the visit by Tsvangirai to the USA was also seen as a good time to engage the Americans so that they could fund the MDC-T in its bid to unseat the government through those proposed illegal demonstrations.
While the country was waiting to hear some results concerning Tsvangirai's journeys to the USA, people were surprised to hear that he nicodemuosly flew back to the country with nothing to show. Even Luke Tamborinyoka who bragged a lot about his boss going to the USA, where he said he was going to meet high profile government officials tried to hide his dilemma and disappointment over his boss' failure to meet any high profile person in the USA.
Tamborinyoka tried to hide behind his finger by saying that diplomatic discussions between Tsvangirai and those whom he was said to have met, were not for public consumption yet it was clear that Tsvangirai failed to get any audience from the USA government officials. It was clear that Tsvangirai only flew to the USA thinking that his former funders would bring back his political downfall but he got what he did not bargain for.
It was clear that the USA government officials were occupied with other important issues concerning their country to the extent that seeing Tsvangirai was not important anyway. Tsvangirai was so naïve to think that some people in the USA government can only accommodate him on their schedules just because he is an opposition leader to Zimbabwe, when he failed to book an appointment with them before he left the country. Such myopic arrangements confirms this writer's belief that Tsvangirai has no focus that can lead the country anywhere in case he wins elections, which is impossible anyway.
In actual fact Tamborinyoka failed to execute his job well when he let his boss flew to the USA before booking appointments with the relevant people who were supposed to meet Tsvangirai. It was clear that Tamborinyoka knew quite well before Tsvangirai's departure to the USA that his boss' journey was a non event as he did not make any appointments for his boss to meet anyone there.
The fact that Tamborinyoka chose to be left behind instead of joining his boss to that so called important journey was a major move for him to save face. Tamborinyoka as Tsvangirai's spokesperson could have tried his level best to join his boss if he was quite sure that the journey had touchable results to talk about. In actual fact he could have been the one to board that plane first which flew Tsvangirai to USA as he is supposed to be always close to Tsvangirai so that he defends any move taken by his boss.
Tamborinyoka's excuse that he failed to join his boss to the USA just because he was advised by his doctor not to fly out after his alleged beating by his enemies was just an excuse which failed to satisfy even those who cared to listen to his story. The USA has some of the best doctors you can talk about the world over, who could have checked on Tamborinyoka's health had he joined Tsvangirai but his skepticism over that so called diplomatic offensive made him to think otherwise. So Tamborinyoka is to blame for doing megaphone diplomacy on Tsvangirai's journey to the USA when he knew that there were no appointment made with high profile people there to him.
After failing to get recognition in the USA, back home, Tsvangirai rushed to Itai Dzamara's family in a move to look like he cares much. He wanted to pretend that he likes and cares for Dzamara's family yet he abandoned them when the family needed him much and chose to go to his failed diplomatic offensive in the USA. Now that he was snubbed by the Americans he is now trying to seek political relevance by telling the Dzamara family members that his abduction was caused by the state agents.
The MDC leader tried to dissuade his party from being labeled as also suspects to the disappearance of Dzamara by saying that it was ironic that the government was saying it was the MDC-T that abducted Dzamara when in fact; he was arrested by people who identified themselves as police. This is real chip politicking by the MDC-T leader. Tsvangirai should realize that even his people could have abducted Dzamara and claimed that it was police doing that because those who were present failed to make the abductors to identify themselves. Such an excuse by Tsvangirai can only come from someone who is poor in analyzing events and facts but only bent on confusing the Dzamara family so that they divert their search for their beloved relative is stopped thinking that the government is behind the abduction of Dzamara.
Tsvangirai should know that the political situation in the country point to everyone who could have been wronged by Dzamara to abduct him and even the MDC-T is not exceptional. His hurriedly and unplanned journey to the USA could have been precipitated by the abduction of Dzamara by the same as the MDC-T wanted to paint the country as gloom and in crisis so that the donors could pour a lot of money to the MDC-T coffers which are said to be dry nowadays. Having realized that the donors have snubbed him, Tsvangirai hurriedly visited Dzamara's family on 23 March 2015, in a move meant to make people forget about his unfruitful journey to the USA so that they begin to talk about the disappearance of Dzamara and make Tsvangirai a hero.
