Chamisa behind assault on the MDC-T VP, Khupe

24 Apr 2015 at 10:48hrs | Views
An assault on the Vice President of the party, is unwarranted, retrogressive and smells of the usual Zanu PF tactics; working with some malcontents of the MDC-T faction which lost in the last congress.

The past week has seen a sustained attack on the person of the Vice President on baseless allegations. The Chronicle and Herald;  which are known Zanu PF mouth piece led the pack by publishing a fabricated story alleging thatMDC-T, Vice President Khupe wants to overthrow the President of the party; Mr Morgan Tsvangirai. This was followed by some story by the same paper, this time alleging that Khupe was on the firing line. While some newspapers have been awash with these fictitious allegation what is surprising is that not even one of the papers have contacted the Vice President to get her side of the story. This is a deliberate act to make sure that she doesn't get the platform to answer to these allegations.

A closer look at what has transpired reveals that there is a hand behind all this. Within the MDC-T the person who has been spearheading this campaign is Nelson Chamisa. After losing the Secretary General; which he thought was a done deal before going to congress he has been a bitter man. After his loss, he went into hibernation, typical of a cobra (his nickname) during the cold season. During this period he consulted a witch craft which visited his offices to perform some ritual meant to give him some supernatural powers. After attaining his false sense of power he has made it his mission that he reverses the decision taken by delegates through a secret vote at Congress, by engaging in a smear campaign against Khupe. The irony of it is that this campaign is similar to the one that was aimed at the former ZANU PF, Vice President Mujuru. It is clear to the MDC-T supporters that;  Chamisa; working in cahoots with Hwende, Komichi, Thabitha and a group which call themselves VAA; these cadres have gone to bed with

Zanu to try and divide the party once again. The Herald and Chronicle; the mouth piece of Zanu are the leaders in this campaign because it is in line with their bigger plan to remove Khupe who has been a pillar of strength to Morgan Tsvangirai and also a leader of a constituency which has rejected Mugabe and his Zanu since independence. To Zanu she is a threat to their efforts of trying to capture Bulawayo while to Chamisa and his group she has been a stumbling block towards their ascendance to power.

Nelson Chamisa has since his emergence from hibernation left a trail of destruction but failed to achieve anything just like he is going to fail to remove MDC-T, Vice President. In South Africa working with some hooligans he organized demonstrators against the National Organizing secretary Hon. Bhebhe in a meeting which took place in Cape Town recently. From there he organized people to demonstrate against the Vice President Khupe and Bulawayo as a Province, during the National Council meeting in Harare. After that he organized a group of hooligans who caused commotion at Stanly Square in Bulawayo and the last; was a group which he hired to disrupt the Provincial meeting. In that meeting; which he thought Khupe would attend; he had arranged hooligans to boo the Vice President. Currently he is busy with another group which is supposed to embarrass the Vice President in Masvingo rally. Chamisa  prepared to sell the party to Zanu PF, just for him to get into power.

What he seems to forget is that while he was busy fighting hard for his political survival and the SG post, Khupe was retained to her current post unopposed. Now the impression he is trying to create; that Khupe is unpopular won't stick because the masses are behind her. His hired group cannot match the power of the masses. Chamisa should accept defeat and stop his uncivilized methods of trying to wrestle power from the current elected SG Mwonzora through the backdoor.
