Dumiso Dabengwa erred seriously! - Please leave him alone!

28 Apr 2015 at 12:26hrs | Views

We bemoan the errors that the General Dumiso Dabengwa made after he was released from Chikurubi Central Prison to this date. The charges he was accused of were made null and void by the very state Zanu apparatus. He remained in prison and upon release from prison he had to face his commander-in-chief, Comrade Joshua Nkomo who had capitulated in his absence, capitulated when 20,000 people from Mathebeleland and Midlands had perished in the hands of the Fifth Brigade under the code name: Gugurahundi.

He was told by his commander-in-the situation has changed; Zapu was no more but has been swallowed by Zanu to be named Zanu PF. The majority of the people of Mathebeleland were not wholly acceptable to this arrangement but considering the number of people who had perished it was rational to save lives and go with it. This is the situation Dumiso Dabengwa was confronted with when he came out of prison. As a Commander he never questioned his Commander-in-Chief; Comrade Joshua Nkomo, how has it come to this? That a "revolutionary" government would allow itself to murder so many people of Mathebeleland and Midlands just by hunting less than ten dissidents in Mathebeleland and Midlands and causing disproportionate killings and maiming and destroying lives, with hidden agendas, a grand plan hatched long back before independence? This is a fact that Commander Dabengwa had to comprehend with when he was freed from prison.

Our learned Vice President Mphoko is schooling us about Comrade Dabengwa's military and political credentials and we are not amused by his vomit, his insults. For whatever serious errors Dabengwa may have made in joining the Zanu PF and serve it at the directives of the late President Joshua Nkomo, Dumiso did not deserve to be insulted by Mphoko anyhow now that he is Vice President by default. What is his problem now if he is feeding his stomach fat? Why can't he leave General Dabengwa alone? Is General Dumiso still a thorn in his flesh until today? This statement of 27th April 2015 Bulawayo 24 below is the greatest insult we still have to comprehend with as people of Mathebeleland and Midlands. Dumiso Dabengwa has many errors (just like me) and one of greatest errors he made in his political and military career is to join Zanu PF at the behest of his Commander-in-Chief; Comrade Joshua Nkomo.

Bulawayo 24, on the 27th of April 2015
VICE President Phelekezela Mphoko has said he is grossly disappointed with the ditching of Zanu PF  by former Home Affairs minister and now  Zapu President Dumiso Dabengwa.Mphoko, on Sunday said Dabengwa soiled his otherwise illustrious liberation history as he had gone through difficult times during the war and it was sad that Dabengwa decided to leave Zanu-PF, Chronicle reported. He revealed that during the Sipolilo operation at the height of the liberation struggle he, Dabengwa, Joe Modise of the ANC and other fighters had to drink their own urine as they had run out of water.

"Dumiso didn't join Zipra, we formed it. I operated with him in Sipolilo. We drank our own urine in one of the operations when we had travelled for more than 60 kilometres to a place where there was no water. We opened our water bottles, shot into them and waited for the acids to evaporate. We then ate Russian chocolate and drank our own urine," said VP Mphoko.

"We went through many things together. This is part of our history that we're proud of but Dabengwa has messed his record. You can't go all the way to the top and then reduce yourself like that." VP Mphoko said the late founding nationalist Joshua Nkomo had signed the unity Accord with President Robert Mugabe bringing together PF-Zapu and Zanu to make Zanu PF, the only genuine revolutionary party in the country. Zanu-PF Politburo member Absolom Sikhosana said Dabengwa used to command a lot or respect before forming Zapu. "Of all the people, it's so painful but we're forced to say down with Dabengwa. We had so much respect for him but we say down with Dabengwa," he said.  Sikhosana said all parties that have opposed Zanu-PF since Independence have all crumbled with time including the MDCs that failed to field candidates for the by-elections in fear of humiliating defeat.

Please VP Mphoko, leave our commander-in- chief, Dabengwa alone, and leave him alone, we pray. (If I was Seventh Day Adventist, I would pray in your religion to pray to leave Dabengwa alone. I am Catholic and have three rosaries in my hand right now, praying!) You cannot possibly attack him out of the blue, what has he done to you to attack him? It simply means your skin is not comfortable with him in Bulawayo. Whether you like it or not Dabengwa has our greatest respect in Bulawayo and the whole of Mathebeleland and indeed the whole of Zimbabwe. He will remain our commander-in-Chief and will represent the whole of Mathebeleland and indeed the whole country as the gallant Freedom Fighter that brought independence to Zimbabwe with many other revolutionaries who have passed on. He will be counted as one of our greatest freedom fighters. Our history books will be written, with his name symbolizing his greatness. We respect his greatest contributions he made in the liberation of our country. He left Zanu PF because he could not bootlick Mugabe for whatever reason because he is a man of principle he will remain so until he leaves us in this world with his respect intact. Mphoko should be told that Dabengwa is a lot higher than Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of military credentials. It does not make him less if he does not bootlick President Mugabe. He has his pride and he is a man in his own right. He is a man of his own.  There is no need to sink so low to bootlick President Mugabe.

Our history books will spell it loud that Commander Dumiso Dabengwa lost his mother in most horrendous circumstances by the Rhodesian Selous Scouts and special Branch. Who has the gut, the audacity still to question Dabengwa's credential in the struggle if he lost his mother in that brutal act?  Mrs. Dabengwa, the mother to Dumiso and indeed the first cousin to my mother: Mrs. Louisa Sihwa  was gunned down by the Rhodesia Special Brunch because his son was a Freedom fighter in Zambia. Where does Mr. Mphoko get the audacity to still to taunt him and gloat his Presidency over General Dabengwa? Mr. Mphoko, you make yourself less if you denigrate General Dumiso Dabengwa in this manner you have done in this above article in Bulawayo 24. In your effort to make him little you are belittling yourself in the process too. You will never be taken serious at all the whole country because of your cheap politicking, as comrade Dabengwa is indeed respected. We all know that gravely Dabengwa erred when he accepted the post of Home Affairs Office. He thought he was obeying orders from the higher authority. Remember too, that Dabengwa has a family and relatives in Bulawayo and elsewhere that look up to him as a family clan leader, now to spit him in this manner, ruffle him up the way you have done in the news media of the 27th of April, in your effort to make him small and shame, is very unwise and stupid, Mr. Mphoko. Can you at least respect the fact that he is a father to his children, his sacrifices to the struggle that you made with him, remain in those spaces and experiences of the struggle. On the contrary, General Dabengwa is respected not only in Mathebeleland but in many parts of Zimbabwe and in many aspects of diplomatic establishments. His contribution to the struggle will never be reduced by you Mr. Mphoko, you are not beholden of Dabengwa's attractive political and military contributions to the struggle for independence of Zimbabwe. His military and political credentials speak for themselves without you soiling him for whatever reason, it is not very clear. Please Mr. Mphoko, leave General Dabengwa alone and eat as much as you can eat under the auspices of "Comrade Robert Gabriel Mugabe." Your kingdom is temporal Sir. You were nominated as VP and not elected; your mandate is authorized by one person: Robert Mugabe whom you bootlicked to get that post. Please Mr. Mphoko leave our Commander Dabengwa alone, please leave him alone. We love him and adore him with all his fallibilities because at the end of the day he is human like all of us. When he dies, when he dies, the people of Zimbabwe will make him a hero and we are going to bury him as our hero, Dumiso Dabengwa should know this before he dies.  Dabengwa is beyond all party small minded thinking and politicking.  Please continue eating and leave our Commander alone, Mr. Mphoko. Ngiyabonga, tatenda, thank you! Now I do not know what they say in Xhosa?
