PRESS STATEMENT
ZIMBABWE REPUBLIC POLICE'S POSITION WITH REGARDS TO FINANCIAL
IRREGULARITIES IN GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES AND DEPARTMENTS.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to inform the nation that the media are not Charge Offices therefore if anyone has a case to report to Me Police they are free to approach the Police Charge Offices found all over the country.
Some people think that the Police just arrest on the basis of the media who do Professionalism on the part of ZRP Is a key requirement of our service charter. The Constitution requires or demands us to be professional.
Government Ministries or Departments have internal procedures and systems which they must fulfil before they conclude as to whether or not the cases must be finalised administratively or criminally.
Unless these procedures/systems are finalised, the Police will hold their peace. Transfers, in the Zimbabwe Republic Police, and world over are routine and normal. This is the case with other Government Departments.
In fact, Police transfers are guided by the organisation's Human Resources. policy, skills and competences required for a particular task, post or position. There is no sinister motive with regard to the manner in which regular transfers are implemented by the Police to address specific job requirements in the service.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police will continue to be guided by its Constitutional mandate in dealing with any case which will have been formally brought to the Police's attention.
