Zimbabwe among the safest tourism destinations

13 May 2015 at 10:42hrs | Views

It is an oversimplification for a rather complex issue to say that Zimbabwe is among the worst tourism destinations. This was revealed by an article published by Zimbabwe Independent tabloid recently. The paper based its article on the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness report released by the World Economic Forum.

This article is myopic and far from reality. In actual fact Zimbabwe is one of the safest countries in the world. Infrastructure is better than most countries in Africa. It should be known that information technology and economy have nothing to do with whether a tourist will enjoy themselves or not. A tourist will enjoy the beautiful lodges and hotels in Hwange, Victoria Falls and Kariba.

In terms of natural beauty, the country has endless safari destinations, Mana pools, Matopos, Chinhoyi caves,  Victoria Falls, Kariba etc. Tourists can enjoy themselves with no fear of being abducted or mugged. In contrast to the peace and booming tourism in Zimbabwe the article is being critical to the Government. We know that there are always misguided people in society who purport something in order to fortify their positions and those of their Western masters.
