People will have to be desperate to elect Mujuru for desperate people do dumb things!

"The shortest way home is as the crow flies; just remember that you are not a crow!" I learnt that lesson as a student on Chimanimani camping trip. After a whole morning of mountain climbing we were too lazy to follow the route back to camp shown on the map and so chose the as the crow flies route.
After spending hours carefully picking our path over the thick bushes and rocks, we found a way barred by a wide and deep ravine which we immediately realized it would foolhardy to try to cross. So we had to retrace our footsteps back where we started and followed the route we should have followed in the first place. It was a long route but certain better than the short but impossible as the crow flies route.
OK we were not desperate to get back to base camp that afternoon still it is often out of desperation that people do desperate things.
Let us face it no one worth his/her salt will stand up to deny that when people voted for Tsvangirai and his MDC friends in 2008 this was anything other than a desperate solution to a desperate situation. As we all know desperate people do desperate things!
By 2008 the Zimbabwe economy was in a desperate state; inflation had soared to a record 500 million per cent, many companies had closed down, shops were empty and Mugabe and his regime had no idea what to do next to revive the economy. The nation was so desperate to see the back of Mugabe and his band of thugs they voted for MDC in droves regardless of the latter's poor past performance record.
The people voted for MDC on the promise that Tsvangirai and company will bring real democratic changes; as the party's name implied, they were a movement for democratic change!
The 2008 Global Political Agreement (GPA); signed by Mugabe on behalf of Zanu PF, Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara of behalf of the two MDC factions and SA's President Tambo Mbeki of behalf of SADC, the guarantor of the agreement; spelt out the raft of democratic reforms, the democratic changes, necessary for free and fair elections.
At no point before the GPA or during the five years of the GNU did the people stop to think through what the democratic reforms were about much less whether or not Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were competent to get the reforms implemented. That would have been the long way home, but because they were desperate to see Mugabe out they chose the shortest, as the crow flies, route; they assumed MDC would implement all the reforms and deliver free and fair elections.
In reality Tsvangirai and his MDC friends turned out to be corrupt and incompetent; Mugabe able to bribe them with gravy train lifestyles plus the $4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai. They accepted the bribes and kicked the reforms into the tall grass. Tsvangirai even ignored SADC's repeated warning for MDC to implement the reforms.
After five years of the GNU, not even one reform was implemented. Come the July 2013 elections, Mugabe was able to blatantly rig the elections to return to power with a landslide victory.
The GNU had offered a golden opportunity for the nation to end the Zanu PF dictatorship but, sadly, the opportunity was wasted. Instead of the people doing their homework and understand what the reforms were about, then carefully select the men and women who too understood what the reforms were about and were competent enough to implement them, etc. The people elect corrupt and incompetent village idiots who did not even have a clue what the reforms were about to implement the reforms. Of course not even one reform was implemented.
History has the habit of repeating itself, especially amongst those who never seem to learn from past mistakes.
Comrade Didymus Mutasa has told Reuters that Mai Mujuru is going to challenge Mugabe for the presidency in the 2018 elections. She has been part and parcel of the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF machine and, for 34 years, she has neither said nor done anything to this misrule. Zimbabweans will have to be really desperate to even consider her presidential material!
It is no secret that the country continues to be in a desperate situation, economically and politically; a worse situation than it was in 2008. It is no secret that when there are in a desperate situation Zimbabweans will go for desperate solutions and so they vote for the corrupt and incompetent Mai Mujuru out of desperation; just as they voted for the corrupt and incompetent Tsvangirai in 2008 also out of desperation.
Of course Mai Mujuru will never get them out of the hell-hole Mugabe has landed the nation; she is too corrupt and incompetent to bring about any meaningful democratic change.
I despair!
In the long run people get the government they deserve; we certain deserve this Zanu PF tyrannical dictatorship competent with its entourage of corrupt and incompetent opposition parties.
