Zimpost issued a special set of four postage stamps on Thursday last week.

This is to commemorate the lives of four National Heroes of Zimbabwe.

This is Zimpost's way of commemorating this year's Heroes Day celebrations set for August 12, 2015.

There are two types of stamps that are issued by Zimpost and these are:

COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS
Commemorative stamps are issued to celebrate special events and personalities in the history of a nation. They are a good way of recording the nationhood of a people. They are sold over the counter for a period of six months and are valid for a period of 4 years. They are also meant for use outside of Zimbabwe.

DEFINITIVE STAMPS
Definitive stamps are issued to celebrate the development of a country through such themes as industry and commerce, natural resources, and any other developmental issues. They are issued for regular, continuous sale in the postal system and are printed in large quantities. The designs of these stamps are changed frequently. These stamps are released every five years and cover all the postal needs of a country.

NATIONAL HEROES COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS
Annually, Zimpost commem-orates the lives of national heroes particularly just before the Heroes' Day celebrations in August. This year's National Heroes Postage Stamp issue covers the following four national heroes of Zimbabwe who brought peace and tranquillity as a result of their selfless dedication.

Zimpost is Zimbabwe's designated postal operator.

It is a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) and Southern African Postal Operators Association (SAPOA).

Over the years, Zimpost has diversified its product portfolio to support its traditional mail services.

As a result of this diversification drive, Zimpost now offers a number of financial, retail, agency and real estate services.
