Commissioner Chihuri PhD thesis on protecting Zanu PF no regime change mantra

"ZIMBABWE's POLICE Commissioner-General Augustice Chihuri has opened an embarrassing can of worms by boasting that he personally worked to stop the MDC from constitutionally rising to power," reported Zimeye.
"Augustine Chihuri has all, but confirmed that State security agents played a critical role in stopping the opposition MDCs from dislodging the ruling Zanu PF party from power and brutally thwarted opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai's' "regime change agenda" since 1999.
"Speaking at his graduation ceremony at the Mt Carmel Institute of Business Intelligence in Harare where he was conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree on Saturday, Chihuri said the details of police's brutal purge on opposition activists formed part of his thesis titled Policing in Zimbabwe, Pre-Colonial, Colonial and Post-Independent Zimbabwe."
"The Western-funded opposition parties wanted to cause chaos in the country and this needed a ZRP (Zimbabwe Republic Police) that was firm and the force kept violence at its minimum," Chihuri said.
The nation and history knows that it was not the opposition parties who were behind the violence but the ruling party and its thugs including state security personnel.
The violence in the 2008 presidential run-off was so wanton that millions lived in fear, hundreds of thousands were raped and/or beaten and no fewer than 500 people, all opposition supporters, were murdered. So it is nonsense that the ZRP kept the violence to a "minimum".
"There was an illegal regime change agenda and policing under the inclusive government was neither easy," Chihuri said without elaborating.
This is arrogant abuse of one's position of trust and authority at its worst. It was the Police working in cahoots with the regime that was breaking the law by systematically denying the people their basic human freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life itself.
Dr Chihuri will have to defend his claim the illegality of people expressing their democratic will by voting for A and not B. No doubt he will be able to quote the Judge and the case number who declared the opposition's activities "illegal". Dr Chihuri is Police Commissioner and not a Court Judge!
Has Zimbabwe's moral standards sunk this low that those involved in rigging elections and serious human rights violations have no sense of shame but even the arrogance boosting about it from the rooftop!
There reports that former British Prime Minister 1970 to 1974 Sir Edward Heath is being investigated by the Police over allegations of historical child abuse. It is right and proper that he is investigated because no one is above the law and no crime can ever be buried until the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth is told.
Dr Augustine Chihuri's doctoral thesis is 40 chapters of, one hopes, quality self-incriminating evidence of how the ZRP has been abused to protect an illegal "No regime change" Zanu PF political agenda. As Police Commissioner, Dr Chihuri must have known that rigging elections or undermining the electoral procession in anyway is a very serious offense - it is treason!
