It really boggles the mind that each time one picks a newspaper to read he/she encounters a heading on violence by either MDC-T officials or supporters. It is now in records that MDC-T party is a violent opposition party. With the recent report being that of Zengeza MDC-T Legislature Alex Musundire, who was believed to have struck a Chitungwiza resident with a golf stick after a housing dispute.
Such acts of violence and human abuse should not be expected from legislators. It is actually a shame that legislators, who are the lawmakers, are involved in such acts of violence. Actually, legislators must be there to strengthen protections from any form of violence.
Violence occurs when one or more people are assaulted in circumstances relating to either work, political or domestic issues. Without doubt, violence is a major factor amongst others that has contributed to lose of election by the opposition MDC-T party. Honestly, who would want to be associated with a political party that has violent people?
The police should arrest any person found guilty of violence regardless of his/her position or political affiliation. MDC-T party members are famous of violence. Housing disputes are there and most of them are solved through dialogues. Being a legislator does not guarantee Musundire the right move around hitting people.
It is quite certain that there are a number of activities that Musundire should do to improve the living conditions of the people of Zengeza. However, it is disheartening that the Zengeza legislature fails to value the people of his constituency who made him what he is today. Instead, Musundire should work extra hard to fulfill his promise that he made during election time.
People are no longer interested in this opposition party. It was then when Tsvangirai boasted around about large number of grassroot support. It is imperative to note that most of the electorate who used to support MDC-T are now defecting to other political parties that have the interest of people at heart.
In previous years most MDC-T rallies were suspended because of violence. It is issues like these that the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission should monitor. It is also given that MDC-T is a western puppet. At times the behaviour by its members is borrowed from their friends from the west.
Violence is now a culture born in MDC-T .Most people have suffered a lot through violence from this opposition party. MDC-T should be criticized against such inhuman behaviour.
Given the established fact that the MDC-T has no alternative policy options to the current main issues like empowerment, redistribution of the country's resources and economy recovery, it therefore follows that the only option available to the MDC-T is violence.
If given the opportunity, I am quite cognizant that the MDC-T can come up with a violence policy. MDC-T should take a leaf from the revolutionary party which I and most people believe that it's a peace loving party.
Through ZANU-PF, Zimbabwe is enjoying peace locally, regionally and internationally. The same should also happen in all opposition political parties.
MDC-T, as an opposition party in Zimbabwe should be there to compliment and support Government policies instead of inciting violence in its members.
