Zimbabwe's Three Cs That Must Go
13 Oct 2011 at 18:37hrs | Views
Apart from the legendary Robert Mugabe, there are three people that have failed Zimbabwe, the three Cs, Constantine Chiwenga, Augustine Chihuri and Patrick Chinamasa. They have failed in their duties and they have abused the institutions which the people of Zimbabwe, through Robert Mugabe, made them stewards over and these men need to go.
Constantine Chiwenga
The army is an institution that is suppose to defend its country's citizens. It is not a business and it is not a political organ. Over the years, under the command of Chiwenga, Zimbabwe's army has shifted from being an institution that defends to being the iron fist of ZANU PF, "The ZANU mafia" as some would like to call it
The army coordinated the violence and terror that took place in the 2008 presidential runoff. Generals have declared publicly that they will not salute any president that is not from ZANU PF, Chiwenga himself did so too. Today, the army is still fingered in coordinated violence that is taking place all over the country especially in the rural areas. Under Chiwenga, the army is responsible for gross human rights violations. We cannot have him as the head of an institution that is meant to defend Zimbabwe's citizens
Apart from the mafia activities, over the last years the army has also been turned into a business, a shady business on top of that. The army is involved extensively and is in control of Zimbabwe's large diamond fields where human rights are being violated. The army cannot be involved extensively in commercial projects; those in the army involved in the projects will not carry out their role so as to protect their interests. They, together with Chiwenga, should resign and go work on the mines and in ZANU PF
Chihuri
The police force is supposed to protect the people, and is not supposed to be used as an instrument of oppression against the people. Once upon a time, The Zimbabwean police force used to be one of the most respected police forces in Africa. Chihuri was once a well respected and admired man. Prominent musicians like Andy Brown have even made songs about him.
Today, still under the same man, Chihuri, who has tasted the fruits of corruption, the police force stands by and watches as people are beaten and in some cases murdered by ZANU PF supporters and militants. Political supporters, non ZANU PF, are arrested on false charges and whilst in custody they are beaten and tortured. Murderers who took part in the 2008 presidential runoff still walk the streets despite their public confessions
Chihuri has failed the people of Zimbabwe, he has failed to protect them and the people of Zimbabwe cannot continue to have him as the man in charge of the police force. He is the adult that stands by and lets children beat other children. When the other children try to fight back, he hits them. He stands by as ZANU PF supporters beat supporters from other parities. When supporters from other parties fight back, he arrests them and tortures them whilst there are in custody. Like Chiwenga, he too must resign and go work full time in ZANU PF.
Chinamasa
There is no political justice in Zimbabwe. As the justice minister, Chinamasa has failed to see to it that justice prevails. Supporters of other parties that are not ZANU are beaten and tortured everyday and Chinamasa does nothing. Instead he has the nerve to call the victims the perpetrators and allow them to stand trial.
The police and the army violet people's right everyday but Chinamasa has not engaged the defense ministry or the home affairs ministry so as to stop the violence. Again he has the nerve to sit down and draft a report on human rights in Zimbabwe.
There is no justice in Zimbabwe, at least when it comes to ZANU PF. ZANU PF has a free pass to do anything. Most of their works are unjust and Chinamasa puts on sheep's clothing and tries to justify them. What hurts the most is that he has no shame whilst doing it. Chinamasa must resign so they may be peace and justice in Zimbabwe
The people of Zimbabwe deserve better, much better than the three Cs. The three Cs have clearly failed the people of Zimbabwe and they must go. There are many people in ZANU PF that need to go for Zimbabwe to be normal nation but first there has to be freedom and with the three Cs in place, there will never be any freedom.
