#ShutdownZim vs #Tajamuka, Which of these two should people support?
08 Jul 2016 at 06:23hrs | Views
These are two different movements, each with a different focus and a different agenda.
#ShutDownZim, has short term goals which are very easy to meet. It has 5 simple demands which are as follows:
1. Deal with corrupt government officials; Everybody is innocent until proven guilty therefore for them to be prosecuted, investigations will need to be done. A promise to investigate and prosecute is easy to give.
2. Remove roadblocks: that is easy to deliver. The people no longer have money anyway as there is a cash shortage, so that is no problem to deliver.
3. Reverse the decision to bring in bond notes; well we have no money to print the bond notes anyway right now so it is no problem to promise that that strategy has been suspended for the time being.
4. Pay civil servants: A date has been set already for 8th July, so that one is also taken care of.
5. Reverse the import ban: Well that one was just a misunderstanding. Individuals are still allowed to import limited quantities as you heard yesterday. So that one is also taken care of.
With all five points now dealt with, #shutdownzim can now rest for a while.
#Tajamuka is a different animal altogether. They are more radical and appear to be asking for a change of leadership. Those we will consider later as more thought and planning is needed.
In business they say that " If you and your business partners always agree, then one of you is not necessary".
Therefore these are two movements with two different roles so they are not competing so nobody has to choose one or the other.
