Life Changing Motivational Lessons I Learnt From Portugal at EURO2016

Number 1: Sometimes It Takes Extra-time To Make It
The difference between success is often our attitude to give it our best shot, at extra-time. Portugal got the winning goal which gave them the trophy, during extra-time. The extra-time is that time when you have tried so much without any success or breakthrough during first half and second half; that time when you are now so tired and emotionally drained. That extra-time when you have lost your key players like Ronaldo who went out of the team due to injury, yes when those you thought would help you make it through challenges have left you.
Time and time again, over and over again, it has been proven that victory is reserved for those who continue to be focused, giving all they have got, at extra-time. Well, there is someone out there who has given his best but no goals are coming, no victory is coming nothing is happening. You are exhausted and frustrated because of victory which never came during first half and second half. To make matters worse some key players, your Ronaldos, those you hoped that they would help you, have left you. The big question is, ‘Are you going to keep on moving despite all failures, setbacks and frustrations?' Are you going to stay in the ring and go the extra-mile despite all the pain and hopelessness? Are you a championship material? God didn't create losers, we turn ourselves into losers.
Take this message, it is a towel to wipe off those tears, dust yourself up, get back into the ring…. and fight! IT'S EXTRA TIME!
Number 2: You Don't Have To Look Like A Champion To Be A Champion
Despise having one of the world's best players of our generation, Portugal didn't look like one of the favorites to lift the trophy, but they did. We get so discouraged because we often don't feel like champions or look like champions, but that doesn't mean we are not. David didn't look like a champion when he faced Goliath, but behold, he was! Jesus didn't look like a champion when he was beaten, spit at and insulted on His way to the cross, but he was! He was on His way to the greatest victory ever! Samson didn't look like a champion, if he did, then Delilah would never have asked him to tell her where he got his strength from.
You don't look like a champion, but you definitely are one of those greatest. You are more than a conqueror, I didn't say it, God did (Romans8:31-39)! You don't have to feel like one, you don't have to look like one, nobody said you should feel it, BELIEVE IT!
Number 3: Victory Via Unlikely Sources
Portugal's victory came from an unlikely source. With all eyes on Ronaldo to bring the trophy home, Eder who was totally unknown to many of us, stepped forward and made history. Be careful therefore, most of the times victory comes from unknown and despised sources. Don't miss your victory or breakthrough because of discrimination, judging and despising people. The unlikely source Eder delivered when it mattered. The unlikely source, little boy provided the bread and fish which the Lord multiplied to save thousands from starvation. The unlike source, Rahab the prostitute helped Joshua to attain victory (Joshua6). The list is endless….but to crush our pride, God will connect us with the unlikely, unknown and most despised sources; if you despise them, your trophy will pass you by!
