ZAPU applauds Mutsvangwa led War Veterans

The recent bold statement that was issued by the War Veterans must be commended. The decision and announcement of a divorce from President Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF regime.
The move was long overdue as the regime has over the time demonstrated that welfare and affairs of the former freedom fighters and the rest of Zimbabweans were never part of their agenda. Mugabe and ZANU PF's agenda, as Zvobgo once remarked was gaining and retention of political power. This has been displayed by the negligence of the War Veterans by this regime.
The divisive tendencies by Mugabe since 1980 and the factional politics that currently obtain in ZANU PF have been major let downs for the veterans and Zimbabweans in general. The deliberate disregard of the constitution has been a betrayal to the values, objectives and principles for which our patriotic liberation war fighters suffered for while others paid the ultimate price.
Just as ZAPU has always been fighting for a better life for all Zimbabweans, the move by the War Veterans under Chris Mutsvangwa is most welcome and commendable. Today, one of the most critical constituency in the struggle for a totally free and better Zimbabwe have joined the masses as we forge ahead with the war against the despotic regime led by Robert Mugabe.
We welcome the group as we fight against nepotism, tribalism, unconstitutionalism, corruption, poverty, hunger and outright economic mismanagement by Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF. Mugabe has thrived on divisive tactics that had seen a society that is highly polarized and full of hatred for one another based on ethnicity. This he was using to divide the former freedom war fighters from both ZPRA and ZANLA.
It is encouraging to note that the War Veterans have finally recalled their duty to the people, that is of saving and safeguarding people's lives. It is encouraging even to the masses to know that the former freedom fighters are fighting in their corner at last.
ZAPU is especially happy that our comrades have seen the light and are now in agreement with their ZPRA counterparts who dissociated themselves with the despotic regime to form their ZPRA Veterans Association early this year. The issues they raised then are the same grievances the War Veterans raised in their recent divorce statement.
We welcome our counterparts to the trenches and into the real struggle for the freedom of our people. ZAPU congratulates Chris Mutsvangwa and company, we hope and also pray that they do not go back on the correct and long overdue decision they have made.
We urge all well meaning Zimbabweans to coalesce and rally together as we work together to push this despotic dictatorship out of power to pave way for the rebuilding of our country. ZAPU takes this opportunity to remind President Mugabe, his family and his regime to listen to the people's voice; who are saying its time up for them. President Mugabe must respect the wishes of the people and respond to them accordingly.
