ZIMRA saga a tip of the iceberg

13 Sep 2018 at 10:36hrs | Views
Dear,

I am not amused by the topical story of a top ZIMRA official demanding bribery from a patriotic whistleblower as i strongly believe that the whole authority is rotten from top to bottom. Evidence of this rot or corruption per se is public knowledge and i wont dwell on it.

I once reported a case of tax evasion, non remittance of paye and under hand dealings by one gold processing company in Bindura through a detailed e-mail to the complains/loss control office. I detailed how the company was prejudicing the government after having paying a substantive amount to the provincial ZIMRA boss. Being part of the management I had all the information and evidence of these shoddy deals and all I wanted was for the company to abide by the country's laws instead of bribing the provincial commissioner. The response I got from the loss control office was shocking and unbelievable. Yes, they said they had referred the case to the same provincial commissioner for investigation.

My foot, God forbid for how can an accused investigate himself? I latter on discovered that this was a well knitted cartel involving the minerals control unit and politicians. Needless to say the case put my life in danger as i was trailed and hunted by men in an unmarked car.

Surely ZIMRA is its west enemy and is at the forefront of economic sabotage.
