South Africa and Zimbabwe turn a blind eye

20 Apr 2019 at 08:13hrs | Views
Dear Editor

I am deeply pained by the situation in Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa should be more concerned about the welfare of his people and country, Ringisai Chikohomero ("South Africa's Zimbabwe Dilemma"' April 18).

I agree that the "sanction must fall" mantra is blanket that is being used to cover a lot of Human rights abuses.

Mnangagwa failed to even utter a word to address the xenophobic attacks on Zimbabweans in South Africa which where propagated by a message his dear friend Cyril Ramaphosa uttered. Zimbabwe can only progress if there are serious political reforms and respect for human rights.

If this does not happen, I am afraid Zimbabwe will be dragged down by Mnangagwa and his government. We need the international community, human rights groups and the SADC to help Zimbabwe to reform politically.

Kind Regards,
