Murowa business operators defy government policy and demand payment in forex

30 Jun 2019 at 07:55hrs | Views
Dear,

While most of us the poor rural peasants welcomed the move to "ban" the use of USD or Rand for local trade and commerce, its really disgusting that business operators at Murowa Business Centre in Zvishavane district are not accepting the bond notes or RTGS$ but demand payment in either USD or Rand. Surprisingly, these operators who include members of ZRP-Support Unit Branch brag that nothing will happen to them as they are well connected.

We the Murowa Community therefore appeal to the relevant authorities to take stern action against these scrupulous and thick headed business operators. We, the rural peasants don't have access to foreign currency and we are forced to buy it from the few Murowa Diamonds employees at black market rates. It's common knowledge that Murowa Diamonds was/is paying their workers in USD cash hence the wickedness of these business operators! We tried to raise the issue of selling groceries using forex but the stubborn operators told us "these are the fruits of voting for ZANU PF". Our Member of Parliament and Ward Councillor have been missing since 30 July 2018. We still appeal to members of the public to help us find these two people so that we air our grievances and developmental needs to them. Honestly, representation by remote control or Bluetooth is tantamount to reckless negligence of duty! Maybe its high time we pass a vote of no confidence in the duo.

Surely this is clear sabotage of government policies in a bid to cause riots and gain cheap political relevance by agents of regime change! Boycotting the shops isn't any easy option as one will be forced to part with almost ZW$50 for a trip to and from Zvishavane town. We pray that the government come to our rescue by dealing with these business operators and having ZUPCO servicing the Murowa to Harare route.
