Transitional National Authority (TNA) the Only Way Out for Zimbabwe

11 Apr 2011 at 02:45hrs | Views
Evidence is there in abundance for all to see that the three (3) political parties making up the Inclusive Government (IG) have completely failed the people of Zimbabwe. There is no need for anyone to be an analyst to notice this.
The past two (2) years of the Inclusive Government have recorded no meaningful progress besides unnecessary arguments, meant to serve personal interests of a few individuals making up the establishment. Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (M.K.D) fears the situation in the country could degenerate into bloodshed worse off than what was witnessed towards the June 27 Presidential Poll run off. The nation has gone to the ruins, and responsible as we are, cannot stand idly by and watch the situation deteriorating further.  Servant leadership is in short supply in the Inclusive Government.
Several efforts have been made locally and internationally to make the Inclusive Government work, but we have come to a conclusion that ZANU PF, MDC-T and MDC-M/N representatives are not interested in bringing the problems facing the country to an end. The citizenry is getting impatient by the day as we are being forced to grapple with an untenable environment which has stripped us of our dignity. Zimbabwe is staring at a very difficult situation and gradually treading into a danger zone, where if Robert Mugabe wins an election, Morgan Tsvangirayi will not recognize the result, and if Morgan Tsvangirayi wins an election, Robert Mugabe will not surrender power. How do we reconcile the two (2) extreme positions?
It is now undisputable that the three (3) political Parties in the Inclusive Government have failed to come up with the much sought after solution to the Zimbabwean crisis. Zimbabwe is at crossroads.
The nation is bleeding and we cannot proceed. Since the Inclusive Government has failed to create an environment conducive for holding of free and fair elections, it should be replaced by the establishment of a Transitional National Authority (TNA), made up of people drawn from political parties but excluding top leaders of all political parties. Other members will be drawn from civil society, business and faith. A National Revival Conference would be convened comprising representatives from these sectors and a small group of competent men and women will be selected to form the TNA. For a period of six (6), nine (9) or twelve (12) months, the TNA will work to establish the electoral body, resource it materially, register voters, draw constituency boundaries as well as spearhead a genuine national healing and reconciliation programme. TNA would exercise political power and will be the national leadership of the country for that period.
If the crisis in Zimbabwe is left unchecked, it could explode to the extent not only of destabilizing the SADC region, but Africa as a whole. The Inclusive Government is now damaged political goods!
