Speaker's ruling in favour of Renewal Team

The ruling passed by the speaker of Parliament, Advocate Jacob Mudenda is not in favour of Tsvangirai faction as Douglas Mwonzora wants us to believe. Tsvangirai faction wanted Mudenda to expel from parliament, the ‘rebel MPs' while Biti faction wanted same to ignore such a directive. Mudenda then said the warring factions must approach the courts to resolve the legitimacy issue first.

In this case, Cde Mudenda will not take any action until the courts make a ruling. It therefore, surprises me to see the learned lawyer getting into the seventh heaven because of this ruling. Its glaring that, for now, the ruling is in favour of the Biti faction because it is the one which instructed the Speaker not expel the MPs, which he indeed did complied with.

Mr Mwonzora was misleading listeners on Studio 7 when he said with that ruling, his party was soon going to cause the expulsion of the ‘rebel MPs.' Parliament will not entertain that move. Is Mr Mwonzora going to cause the expulsion after the court proceedings? What then makes him overconfident that the ruling will be in favour of his faction?

Mr Tsvangirai says the renewal team is undemocratic because it wants to remove him from power outside the congress. He implored them to wait for the elective congress which has been drawn closer because of the internal strife. What boggles the mind is that Mr Tsvangirai himself has been firing other leaders before the congress. Mr Tsvangirai wants to selectively use the constitution. We all know that the leadership is changed at congress. So nobody should be expelled before congress. It is actually him who violated the constitution.
