Sikhanyiso Ndlovu: A nation's loss
16 Sep 2015 at 10:25hrs | Views
EDITOR,
The death of Zanu-PF Politburo member and former Cabinet minister Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu shocked me.
I prayed for his recovery when I heard that he had suffered a stroke hoping that he would recover soon and get back to working for the country.
But God had other plans.
Known to his colleagues as Duke, the ever-smiling former Cabinet minister was indeed a people's man who was friendly to everyone, whether rich or poor.
Zimbabwe has indeed lost a leader, a selfless man who was ready to work for the unity and strength of Zanu-PF as a party and a revolutionary organisation in the country and the world as a whole.
His contribution to education in Zimbabwe will forever be cherished. Founder of the Zimbabwe Distance Education College (ZDECO), he was an entrepreneur who wanted to make sure every Zimbabwean had access to education - supporting Government's efforts to educate all.
He employed hundreds of Zimbabweans at ZDECO and was committed to the development of Zimbabwe. His passion for education can never be overemphasised, especially the work he did as the national secretary for education in the Zanu-PF Politburo.
As the secretary for education, Cde Ndlovu indeed made his contribution to crafting a policy that led to the development of Zimbabwe's education systems that have become a marvel for the world. May his soul rest in peace.
