Zimbabwe Accelerated Literacy Programme fails to pay teachers - WhatsApp update

3:30pm, 4 May - +263 71 *** ****: Zimbabwe Accelerated Literacy Programme(Zalp) funded by Unicef in selected districts in Zimbabwe has failed to pay teachers running the programme for five months.its rumoured unicef deposits 150 dollars every month to each teacher in the programme but the supervising( ngo) pays 50 dollars per teacher .erate teachers have been calling the district. co ordinators but are evasive on the matter, the programme is likely to loose its intended goal as most teachers involved have threatened to quit coz the programme is more strenous than normal teaching.the programme referred to is trying to bring back children who dropped out of school by attending afternoon sessions and then after assessments tests the pupil is readmitted into the mainstream.the programme is excellent but management of stipends for teachers is about to destroy a good cause.(hide id pliz)
