Nephew stabs uncle with a knife

A middle aged man under Chief Sinamwenda in Tyunga Ward 22 in Binga District received serious deep cuts after being stabbed with a knife by his nephew on the 26th of July 2004 at around 2000 hours on his way home after he was followed behind by the armed nephew and attempted to be killed at a distance of about one kilometre from the area's tuck shops were they were boozing.

The uncle lay down half dead while receiving numerous stabs and blows from the nephew in an attempt to kill him. The victim was rescued by his wife after being tipped off by some gracious members of the community of the alleged attempted murder.

This incident left the community dazed and the suspect, John Mudenda, proudly boasted of acting like the wrestler, John Cena, while the victim, Gibson Muchimba received treatments at Binga District Hospital where a medical report was furnished and a report submitted to Siabuwa Police Station on the same week by the victim. However, the victim and community are still wondering on when the police will come to arrest the suspect as it is now almost a month since the case was reported, hence no action.

No apparent and stunning reason was given by the alleged suspect for this attempted murder.

The suspect is currently moving freely and he is further promising to stab more people as he knows that he can easily walk out of the court rooms without any castigatory sentence.

On the other hand, the accused has another case to answer relating to misappropriation of Carbon Green funds, but the police are still hesitant to arrest the ever troubling man. In this event, where should we be reporting our cases so that we get protection? Why does it take long to arrest violence, and other related crime perpetrators in our area? Is the head of the Home Affairs Ministry in the district aware of this type of laxity on duty? We aim to see the rule of law taking its course.
