Surely things have fallen apart in Zanu pf judging from the public fights taking place across the opposing camps. This is a new phenomenon where people who are supposed to be fullfilling their election promises have suddenly found the luxury to leave a burning house and engage in public spates.I think Mugabe is now a by stander in all this as he has failed time and again to reign in deviant members.
To label the 12 MPs who are linked to the US embassy project funding as spies is nonsensical in the extreme.MPs who try to hard to develop their constituencies through different synergies are in my view creative because they realize that the government is too broke to fund developmental projects. If schools are delapidated as is the case in most provinces, no amount of " pamberi nezanu pf or pasi na so and so " will result in a single brick to construct a classroom block.
I am not a fan of Temba Mliswa because at times I find him very controversial, but on this CIA spy saga, the boy talks a lot of sense as he is frank about the situation bedevilling the country. It is common sense and logical not to upset a guests who bring goodies and halting slogans for just a day will not bring the govt down. And who wants this country anyway with all its attendant problems because if this was some private company it would have been liquidated a long time ago.
My challenge to all zanu pf leaders is can he/she who has not benefitted from American money stand up and be counted as patriotic. If getting aid from America or any western power is spying, then everybody including the president is a spy.Just as Temba and the other members of the dirty dozen were being accused of being spies, the president was presiding over a function to roll out a teacher improvement programme funded by America to the tune of $3million.If the govt is so scared of its citizens becoming spies for America then it must never accept foreign aid in any form.By default, it is these western countries through their aid that has helped to pacify people in some instances and prolonged this govt's stay in power. And did this learned prof who is shouting hoarse about the spy debacle not run away with Ford Foundation money from Kenya?
Is this not a case of a father who drinks water from next door, sends his children to school next door, gets treated next door, keeps him money next door and shops next door BUT when his children start admiring the man next door he accuses them of spying.
To show how our political leaders and their hangers on love everything western, one just needs to read about the shopping mania that rocked New York recently as the presidential entourage almost emptied shops on account of the hefty $2 000 daily allowances in a country where doctors earn $500/ month.
It is this obsession with liberation war rhetoric that has robbed citizens of valuable productive years as our rulers continue to see enemies in a free world.
