'Beta bus ripping passengers off'
06 Jan 2015 at 07:38hrs | Views
04:38, 6 Jan - +27 7* *** ****: There is a bus called Beta which purportedly plies the Byo-Hre-Byo.
I had a bad experience on it today. I boarded at 12:45pm for Byo from Hre after being assured that it was about to leave. The conductor tried to rip me off by charging me $15 whilst others were paying less. I ended up negotiating for $13 then noted that others were being charged $10 for the same journey. The bus kept on driving in circles and finally left the show grounds hiking spot at 3pm.
Meanwhile my pleas for a refund so that I could take another alternative option were in vain as the conductor simply ignored me. It took 2 hrs for the bus to get to Chegutu after making several unnecessary stops. My complaints channelled to the person whose number is on the bus ticket yielded nothing as s/he kept on saying s/he was going to phone the crew. He ended up not responding at all to my whatsapp messages.
Another surprise is that when we got to Gwelo 8pm the driver decided not to proceed to Byo and we were bundled up into kombi which also took us on rounds around Gwelo. I only got home at 11:30pm and I had to spend an additional $10 in getting a cab to where I stay because I failed to get transport. To the travelling public, use the bus company at your own peril. You will always be disappointed with Beta buses.
