10:31, 3 Feb - +263 7* *** ****: CONFUSION LOOMS AT BINGA DISTRICT EDUCATION OFFICE
There has been much speculation on how the staffing process would be conducted in Binga by the District Education Boss, [name supplied].
Of late, residents within Binga district had been just watching the corrupt recruitment process without voicing.
The district has a low number of trained teachers and hence a bulk of teachers are untrained.
Untrained teachers renew their contracts on a termly basis and citizens from Binga has been denied the chance to teach fellow brothers and sisters, with those vacancies being grabbed by people from outside the district.
By yesterday afternoon (2 Feb) scores of job hunting Bingarians were still gathered at the education offices, unattended and unaddressed yet there are vacancies in schools. Pupils don't have teachers in schools because somebody has failed to recruit teachers. People gathered at the education offices on the 8th of January, this year and up to date they are still holed up there, unattended as if they foreigners in their own district.
Those with connections are finding their way into the ministry through the back door. Some officers are said to be receiving bribes to offer deployment letters. Chiefs and politicians are submitting lists of names of their beloved relatives to the DEO, through corrupt means.
If it is like that : "Who then will stand for those without influential relatives in the district. Does anyone ever ask him/herself where these job seekers are getting food and accommodation?
Don't the people of Binga have enough wisdom to solve this problem. Surely, how can vacancies in Binga be grabbed by somebody coming from as far as Chirundu when the locals are equally educated?
Its almost two weeks from now since schools opened but surprisingly teachers haven't been deployed yet pupils need to learn.
