12:30pm, Mar 11 - +263 7* *** ****: Sianzyundu community in Binga is faced with relocation and Council had bn pegging the site without consulting the community all along. The community sought legal representation on the approach. Today council has convened a community meeting but the general citizenry in the ward had been blocked from attending. More-so it is reported DA's office and Council are under security escort after false rumours that the community is rebellious and likely to destabilise the proceedings. Can this be the best way to treat a fellow human being in his own residence? To note is the community went through a similar forced relocation in 1957 by the colonial regime and settled where they are today. The place was a thick forest and bantu used manmade tools to clear the area and used local labour and contributed local resources to build a clinic, sch and other services. Sunu kwakkondela, kwabota and they are told to move and leave the services they so much toiled for to get into place. Kutegwani awa? May those in the know advise on this one?

I think we may need more information but one of the structural defects in our system is that we inherited the colonial policies and systems and changed the elite from white to black faces. I am sorry but thats the truth. When we apply laws we are applying colonial ones.

Having a new urban settlement is good but also moving people socially and emotionally attached to place has challenges. How do you compensate social and emotional attachment?
