6:36am, Apr 2 - +27 8* *** ****: Good morning Bulawayo24 News. I am writting to ask you to please alert people about a group of oMalayitsha who are abusing their passengers. These people operate in large groups. They claim to transport people to SA and upon rival, they hold them ransom in hidden places and demand crazy amount of monies. They did this to my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law 2weeks ago. They demand the money be sent through Spar and refuse to give out their bank details. I am afraid a lot could be happening there as people are searched for any hidden objects and their body parts are touched during the search. My fear is, women are also sexually abused and they are sometimes asked for sex if they can not afford to pay. Both my brother-in-in-law and my sister-in-law were robbed of their cellphones, cash and these thugs even beat them up when they refused to give out their bank card pin numbers. Their accounts were swept clean. These guys seem to me working for someone. I urge the people of Zimbabwe to refrain from using taxis and resort to comuting in buses because it is more safer that way.
7:29am, Apr 2 - +27 8* *** ****: Travellors can be advised to take taxis from legitimate bus ranks or taxi ranks where their personal details are written down and kept in the office pending their arrival to their final destination. These taxis and 4x4s tauting along Gwanda Road must be banned or have their vehicles empounded. Every taxi/4x4 operationg between Zim and SA must belong to an association. All these Associations must have at least 4 of their patrol vehicles patrolling Byo/Beitbrigde Road to ensure passanger safety and that their drivers adhere to Association rules and obey Traffic Rules.
