The Zimbabwe's Under 18 boys basketball team has failed to travel to Rwanda for the FIBA Africa Under 18 championships which began on Friday (yesterday) due to lack of funding.
The team was supposed to get to Rwanda well before the championships kick off date of Friday the 22nd.
Harare Basketball Association spokesperson Carlos Munda says financial constraints continue to affect the sport and has called for corporate support.
Zimbabwe was drawn in Group A together with hosts Rwanda, Gabon, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali and Algeria.
Egypt, Tunisia, Benin, Angola, DRC and Uganda make up Group B.
Winners and tournament runners-up at the championships will gain automatic qualification to the 2017 FIBA Under 18 World Championships set for Cairo, Egypt.
