India beats Zimbabwe by 8 wickets

World champions India have beaten Zimbabwe by eight wickets in the first of five one day internationals played at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.

Indian captain Virat Kohli led from the front scoring his 15th one day international century ably supported by Ambat Ayudu who scored his maiden half century with an unbeaten 63.

Kohli was however caught by Vusi Sibanda off the bowling of Prosper Utseya.

Two balls later, Utseya dismissed Suresh Raina for a duck but it was a bit too late as India held on to score 230 for 4 in 44.5 overs.

The other Zimbabwean bowlers to get wickets were Kyle Jarvis who dismissed opener Shikar Dhawan for 17 while Elton Chigumbura also chipped in with the wicket of Rohit Sharma.

Earlier on Skander Raza had scored his maiden international half century as his 82 runs helped Zimbabwe put up 228 for 7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Chigumbura weighed in with 43 runs from just 34 balls.

India had won the toss and elected to field.

Virat Kohli who scored 115 was named man of the match.
