Zimbabwean medium-pacer, Keegan Meth, suffered an unfortunate mouth injury when a ball hit him on his face, removing three upper teeth, while badly wounding the lower part of the brim.
The incident took place in the fifth and final One Day International, where the bowler was on the receiving end of a fierce straight shot by Bangladeshi batsman, Nasir Hossain.
It was the last ball of the visitors innings, when Hossain smashed a straight drive, giving the bowler no reaction time, the ball hit him straight on the mouth. Meth immediately fell down, with a bloodied face.
To make things worse, he lost three teeth and had to be carried off the ground. The player was in great pain and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
It was the bowlers final ball of the spell, where he took 2 wickets and gave away 56 runs. The match was consequently won by the Bangladeshi's by 93 runs; however, Zimbabwe had already won the series 3-2.
It was 23-year-old's first appearance in limited overs cricket, as he came in for the inform left-armer, Brian Vitori. The youngster's good showing in the first four ODIs kept Meth on the sidelines, having himself performed well in the tour match, which took place between the two nations.
Even though the player suffered a nasty injury, he was still able to join his teammates in the celebrations which took place after the closing ceremony.
