FC Platinum have issued head coach Norman Mapeza an ultimatum to clinch  the Premier Soccer League championship  this season.

Mapeza's side finished second last season behind champions Caps United by  two points.

According to reports, Mapeza has been offered a fresh two year deal tied with the title this season.

"The contract has been tabled and they have agreed in principle. They are just waiting for him (Mapeza) to return from holiday, so he can sign the contract," an unnamed  source is quoted saying by NewsDay.

However, media liaison officer, Chido Chizondo said the title clause is mere speculation.

"Those are just rumours. We haven't gone for our strategic planning session and that is where we discuss our targets for the season.

Last year, we were targeting at least a second position finish and we achieved it, so naturally, we would want to improve. But that is not the official position. I will issue a statement after our meeting," she said.

Mapeza's contract previous contract, signed in August 2014 expired on December 31, 2016.

He  was appointed head coach following the departure of Lloyd Mutasa, who left the club on August 7, 2014 following a less impressive showing in the first half of that season.
