ZIFA expects investigations into the Asiagate scandal to officially come to an end by the end of March next year.

The local football governing body says the Ethics Committee put in place to bring the Asiagate scam to a finality has already began investigations and is expected to bring the matter to an end before the beginning of the 2012 soccer season.

Speaking to ZBC News in a telephone interview, ZIFA Vice-President, Mr Ndumiso Gumede said the ad-hoc committee headed by retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Ahmed Ebrahim is expected to bring finality on the Asiagate match-fixing scam before the 2012 season begins.

Allegations are that officials, players and some journalists were paid in an intricate betting syndicate which saw Zimbabwe lose heavily to such countries as Syria, Malaysia and Vietnam.
