Highlanders football club chairman Themba Ndlela survived ouster after a section of club members which had threatened to remove him from his post through a vote of no confidence at the annual general meeting yesterday backed off.

Some Bosso life members had threatened to remove Ndlela and his entire executive committee saying the chairman had failed the club.

The meeting went on well but without making any major resolutions to solve the club's financial crisis save for asking the membership to fork out $5 each every month as a way of raising funds for the troubled club.

Ndlela also took time to update the members on players, saying they had registered for the first team six players from the juniors: two strikers Arnold Ndiweni and Mgcini Sibanda, three defenders Sijabuliso Ndlovu, Wilfred Maguraume and Honest Moyo and goalkeeper Archford Katsande.

He said they would arrange lengthy contracts with the players to avoid losing them.

"We will ensure that as they learn (the juniors) they are contracted to the club so that we do not lose players," the chairman said. He said negotiations were at an advanced stage for two midfielders and two defenders. Ndlela confirmed that Zephania and Joel Ngodzo and Brighton Dube had moved to FC Platinum and Francis Kanda, Protasho Kabwe and Menard Mupera were fired from the club for indiscipline.

"The three did not go willingly. They were dismissed due to discipline problems," Ndlela said.
