As Zimbabwe Saints continue with their preparations for the 2011 Premiership soccer season, 19 players from Harare on Tuesday made a surprise call at Chikwata as they trained at Luveve Stadium.
Saints bought the Eagles franchise a fortnight ago.
Among the players that were at Chikwata on Tuesday were former Dynamos defender Philip Sithole and midfielder Tafadzwa Maingire.
Also from Dynamos was the trio of goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya, Herbert Mundwa and William Mapfumo, who had moved to police side Black Mambas.
Pardon Togara from former champions Gunners, Peter Muzondora and Enock Magozore from relegated Eagles, Mike Mhungu of Lengthens, Ray Mangoni of Shooting Stars and Givemore Fireyi from FC Victoria trained with Saints on Tuesday.
The largest contingent of players to throng Luveve Stadium Tuesday was from Douglas Warriors, who were also relegated from the Premier Soccer League.
Six players Ngonidzashe Murisa, Charles Murisa, Rafael Manuel, Richard Bhayani, Barnabas Halinani and Elvis Bvure came from Douglas Warriors.
The players trained under the watchful eyes of prospective coaches Willard Mashinkila-Khumalo, Agent Sawu and Chikwata's current mentor Edmore Sibanda.
Saints' organising secretary Jabulani Chinyangarara said the players just came on Tuesday and they had not opened any negotiations for them, but adding that they were all experienced players.
On the coaches, whom the club had said would be announced last week, Chinyangarara could not be drawn to making a statement save to say they would meet the coaches and make the appointments this week.
"We have about 20 players from Harare here. They are all tried and tested players and it's now up to the coaches to tell us who they want. As for the coaches, we shall be meeting them anytime this week," Chinyangarara said.
Last week witnessed the coming in of former Highlanders striker Simbarashe Gate, defender Anzlom Ndlovu and Lincoln Siwela.
They were joined by former AmaZulu and Monomotapa player Vorster Chitema and veteran goalkeeper Jonathan Chikaponya.
New faces that also came to Chikwata last week and were there yesterday were former Chicken Inn and Railstars striker Fortune Nyambosi, defender Nkosilathi Dube (former Ecco City –Botswana) and Hwange's Thulani Moyo.
Former Shabanie Mine player Fetrigo Santiago and Isaac Banda, who played for Masvingo United and FC Platinum, also attended training.
Saints' comeback brings the number of Premiership clubs to three in Bulawayo after giants Highlanders and newly-promoted Chicken Inn.
It also brings to seven the number of top-flight clubs in the Southern Region including Hwange, Masvingo, Shabanie Mine and FC Platinum.
