The President of LEAD Linda Masarira has alleged that the Emmerson Mnangagwa led government has dumped the Netball team after promising to fly them to Uganda for a friendly match ahead of their World cup appearance.
Said Masarira, "Government promised the ZimGems travel to their friendly game. Remember tweet by the Ministry of Information? Well the girls are stranded in Mbare. No food. No plan. What a shame. They have missed their game. They are hungry."
Masarira's statements come contrary to the Netball team's tweet on Wednesday that they have been given tickets to travel to Uganda.
"We would like to confirm we have received our tickets for travel to Uganda tommorow for a friendly match. We want to thank you all deeply for speaking out for us. Special thank you to Mandy Mvukwe Chair of our fundraising campaign and the Ministry of Sports led by Kirsty Coventry." The girls tweeted on Wednesday.
