Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo has said government would not allow traditional chiefs to undergo DNA tests before installation.
"Government is not going to allow that to happen. We are not going to have the DNA tests, the process will create more problems" said Chombo.
There had been calls for DNA tests to ensure that the throne is not taken up by alien blood of children brought into the clan by their mothers.
Chombo said such calls are from people who are jealous and motivated by greed.
"The criticism is unwarranted and comes from a section of the society that is ignorant of the whole concept of chieftainship.
