Gidza snubs Bosso, joins Bantu Rovers

FORMER FC Platinum player and Highlanders skipper Gilbert Banda has joined Zifa Southern Region Division One log leaders and Bulawayo outfit, Bantu Rovers.
Banda, who spent more than 10 years at his childhood side Highlanders before joining the ambitious Zvishavane based FC Platinum who later offloaded him after a few months, will join up with his former coaches, Methembe Ndlovu who is the club president and Rueben Tsengwa, the Tshintsha Guluva head coach. On the field of play he will also be reunited with Johannes Ngodzo.
Bantu Rovers secretary and spokesman Wilbert Sibanda confirmed the coming on board of Banda, whose arrival will help the side maintain its grip at the top of the standings and clinch the sole ticket to the Premiership next season. "Yes, it's true that Banda is now in our books," said Sibanda.
Sibanda said with the coming in of the experienced players to the side, their chances of making a return to the big boys' league were now even brighter.
"Banda has a lot of experience after leading a great side like Highlanders over so many years and even lifting the championship with them. We hope that experience will come in handy as he guides our youngsters," said Sibanda.
Another former Highlanders player, Abraham Mbaiwa, played his first game for Bantu Rovers last week.
Banda, according to the secretary, will make his club debut this coming weekend against Railstars if the coaches select him.
The move to Bantu Rovers puts paid to speculation that the likeable Banda would retrace his footsteps to Highlanders while some reports linked him with a move to Harare giants Dynamos.
