HIGHLANDERS' promising striker young Ozias Zibande was not part of the travelling party that left for the capital yesterday morning for a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash with Harare City at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.
Zibande picked up an ankle injury during training and together with Lawson Nkomo failed to recover on time to be part of the soldiers that are looking at hitting game number 19 without a loss.
Highlanders are just three games shy of matching the 21- game unbeaten run reached by city neighbours Zimbabwe Saints in 1978.
"Ozizi (Zibande) did not make it after he picked an ankle injury during training," said team doctor Xolani Ndlovu.
However, coach Kelvin Kaindu said while they would have wanted to have young Zibande, who has hit the nets three times in seven appearances, the team had able replacements.
"We believe in all our players and those thrust into the team will just have to deliver," said Kaindu.
He said the preparations during the week went on well and were looking forward to posting another positive result today, although they are aware of what to expect from their opponents.
The Zambian said Harare City can talk as much as they want but Highlanders will do most of that on the field of play this afternoon.
"To us this is just like any other game although we treat every game differently," said Kaindu.
Highlanders face a Harare City side whose goalkeeper John Nomore was at the centre of the controversy that led to the Bulawayo giants being fined $5 000 by the Premier Soccer League's disciplinary committee after their fans invaded the pitch in protest over Nomore's delaying antics.
