Hwange.................2(1) Bantu Rovers ...... 1(1)
Methembe Ndlovu's division One-bound Bantu Rovers further confirmed their relegation status when they were beaten by Hwange at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.
Hwange collected maximum points courtesy of Rodwell Chinyengetere who latched onto a Fortune "Fokoza" Ncube cross to give the home team the opener in the 37th minute.
A second half volley by the ever-green Gilbert Zulu sealed the win for Hwange.
Bantu Rovers got their consolation goal through substitute Agrippa Peperere who caught the Hwange defence off guard and blasted past Petros Mhari who was standing in for an injured Timothy Sibanda.
The first half saw both teams playing cautious football and were not that adventurous.
The teams upped the tempo in the second half with both goalkeepers producing a number of saves. Rovers were a changed team after the break.
Their efforts paid off in the 83rd minute through Peperere's screamer.
The result was the final nail in Bantu's flirtation with top flight soccer after one season.
The Methembe Ndlovu- owned side bought Mutare side Eastern Lions' franchise in 2008 after the latter struggled financially.
However, the team struggled to stamp their authority among the big boys after the departure of influential players notably Washington Arubi to Dynamos.
