The Highlanders Football Club executive and players meet on Tuesday night in an attempt to end the strike by mercenary players who have vowed not to attend training until they are given their outstanding monies.
The so called crisis meeting had been scheduled at club offices yesterday morning but was postponed to Tuesday night as chairman Themba Ndlela reportedly had another meeting in Gweru.
On Tuesday, the a few disgruntled players had said that they would not attending training until they were paid all their outstanding salaries, allowances and winning bonuses.
"We are not attending training. Of course the morning meeting has been postponed to 5:30pm because the chairman was said to be attending another meeting in Gweru but still we are not going to train," said one player. However, two players said they were not certain if they were supposed to attend the meeting or not.
"They have postponed that meeting to 5:30pm but we don't know what is going to come out of the meeting and as for myself, I don't know if we are supposed to go for training today (Tuesday)," another player said.
The players said they arrived for the crisis meeting on Tuesday morning but were told by manager Douglas 'British' Mloyi that it had been delayed.
Meanwhile, NewsDay photographer Chrispen Tabvura was on Tuesday morning chased away from Bosso offices by Tapela as he attempted to take photos of Highlanders players arriving to attend the crisis meeting.
Tabvura and NewsDay have of late been writing negative stories about Highlanders. Last week NewsDay lied that Bosso players were not going to play against Kiglon on Sunday but to everyone's surprise they played. It is not yet clear why NewsDay has launched such a negative campaign on the Bulawayo giants.
Asked to comment, Tapela said: "The executive committee is looking into the issue at the club at the moment. As for the photographer, we do not know where he was coming from.
"We do not seek any favours from any newspaper and anyone behaving in that manner would get the same kind of treatment. The meeting is on, it has always been diarised. It's the kind of meetings that we hold now and again."
