Bosso out to break Dembare dominance

A bruised Highlanders will troop into the artificial Rufaro Stadium turf hoping to do what they have failed to achieve since 2006 when they meet old nemesis Dynamos in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter tomorrow.

The match is expected to be a blood and thunder encounter with Dynamos starting as favourites judging by their history and the underserved 1-0 win over the Bulawayo giants in the Independence Cup final played at the National Sports Stadium on Thursday.

Despite being dominated, Dynamos still found that important goal through ageless skipper Murape Murape who beat an outdrawn goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda. The goal sent wild celebrations in the stands who included even uniformed security details who were spotted on television doing the Zora Butter dance.

"We are eager to stop these sad statistics. The defeat to the same team on Thursday is now water under the bridge and we now are fully focused for the match and want to go back to Bulawayo with our three points," said Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu soon after their morning training session at Belgravia yesterday.

He said after the match on Thursday he got worried with injuries to Dumisani Ndlovu, Bruce Kangwa, Hillary Madzivanyika and Simon Munawa but doctors were able to work on them.

Madzivanyika played a blinder on Thursday.

"In all our matches against them we have always been the better side by far, we need to start converting even the simplest of chances and punish them heavily," said Kaindu.

Former Dynamos coach David Mandigora, speaking as a guest analyst on television during the final, concurred that Bosso have always been better than Dynamos but DeMbare play to score and whenever they get an opportunity, they bury it.

DeMbare are likely to use the same team that played in the final with their inspirational captain, Murape set to start.

It's a toss between Munyaradzi Diya and Ariel Sibanda in between the goalposts and whoever will be entrusted by Kaindu should do the job.

The Zambian can play a psychological game by throwing in Diya to kill whatever confidence Dynamos could have whenever Sibanda is the goalkeeper.

Bosso are three points behind early pacesetters, FC Platinum who have a tricky encounter against Shabanie Mine in the first Zvishavane derby of the season. Shabanie Mine are buoyed by the return of schemer, Luke Masomere who together with Taurai Mangwiro, have had their bans for their Asiagate bans which were commutted to fines.

At Luveve Stadium this afternoon, Chicken Inn will be looking at completing a double over 2009 league champions Monomotapa whom they beat 3-0 in the other Independence Cup final played at White City Stadium.

The visitors' coach Biggie Zuze said they were focused on re-grouping and give it their best.

"The boys should now show their character and from the mood in the camp, they are really going to give it their all," said Zuze.

His only worry though is the stomach ache that affected three of his players including star player Ishmael Lawe.

The Gamecocks lost 1-2 to FC Platinum in their last League encounter and the Independence Cup win could spur them on although Monomotapa don't seem intimidated on facing them, despite the defeat.

Makepekepe invade the city for the first time this season for what might prove to be a difficult assignment when they face gold miners, How Mine who however will be without captain, Herbert Dick who was red carded at the Colliery Stadium.

How Mine are yet to lose at home and are likely to claim the scalps of the Harare based side.
