Kaindu threatens to qui Zim football over poor refereeing
21 Apr 2013 at 07:00hrs | Views
KEVIN KAINDU on Thursday threatened to quit Zimbabwe football, claiming referees were giving him poor treatment after a controversial decision by match officials to disallow what looked like a genuine Highlanders' goal during the Independence Cup final.
"The decision of the referee obviously influenced the result of the game. I thought we had scored a genuine goal and I just want to say I think I am having a problem now to coach in Zimbabwe because every time I try to ask, I am being told the same thing that I will go to the stands," said Kaindu.
"I think I have done something (good for the game). I came to improve football in Zimbabwe, but the referees are not giving me the platform. When somebody complains there must be something wrong.
"I did not complain when they disallowed a goal but I thought so many times we were not given the decision but the moment I say something they send me out. I think it's being unfair honestly.
"Now I am begging to give instructions to my team. Honestly, I came here to improve football but if I continue being handled this way I would rather leave and go back to Zambia," said Kaindu
Yesterday, online readers of The Herald reacted to Kaindu's outburst.

Whilst I am sorry for what Kaindu perceives unfair treatment at the hands of referees, I am dismayed at his disrespectful language and opinion that he came to 'improve' football in Zimbabwe!
It smacks of a superiority complex. If he thinks like that, then please, pack your bags and leave. A coach knows that he has no business questioning the ref's decisions when match is in progress. Imagine the ref explaining his every decision! Go. Enda!

Well said Dick. Kaindu is a good coach but for him to say he came to "improve soccer" in Zim really smacks of the S-complex. Akada kuita take-take nemaofficials achisiya team yake ingofa kwaari!

"I came to improve football in Zimbabwe" . . . kuda kukura musoro zvisina basa . . . what have you achieved for Zimbabwean football? Zimbabwe is bigger than Highlanders Achimwene. You must know that. If you feel like going back to Lusaka you can go there peacefully and I don't think the Zimbabwean football fraternity will ever miss you -- only some section of Highlanders fans will miss you.
Those who might be unfortunate enough not to notice your blame game . . . referees . . . referees for nothing. The team is losing under your tutelage.
You definitely need to go back to Zambia, especially when looking at your failure to clinch the title last year and your current inconsistent performance. Better uyende!

This Kaindu guy is too talkative and thinks very highly of himself.
Coming to do what? 'Improve Zimbabwean football'. My foot. Okay, let me tell you what you are suffering from. It's the pressure of losing to Dynamos. I know when a coach loses to a bitter rival there will be insurmountable pressure from the fans but keep your cool, don't say too much nonsense. David said in my haste I said all men are liars. Please don't speak in haste.

You need to thank your referees. Unfortunately, they are never there for you in the Caf Champions League. Anyway, hats off to Murape, he worked tirelessly.

Obviously, a disgruntled coach will blame it on someone.
The Highlanders players failed to score from a lot of chances, both in the first and second half, and I don't see the reason to blame the referees. If you say you came to improve soccer in Zim let's see an improved scoring Highlanders this Sunday. You can't win them all Kaindu! Tough luck! Even if you quit no problem, there a lots of coaches in Zim.

Remove the superiority complex from your head Mr Kaindu and start to reason logically.
You might be correct that referees are pathetic at times, but you also came to look for a job and fend for your family, first as a player and now as a coach. You might also be feeling the heat, what with such great personalities like Mawiwi sitting on the same bench with you.

The Zimbabwe Referees Association, if it ever exists, I urge them to tighten their socks if ever our referees are to officiate in Caf or Fifa games. It's a disgrace to our referees and association to just watch and keep quiet like that. Hey where are you guys, wake up if we are to make any impact in continental and international assignments.
In some countries you hear referees being summoned and at some stages get banned from officiating, why not in Zim football? It's a wake-up call. How can a referee and is assistants disallow a genuine goal and boast we have good referees? There are so many questionable decisions happening in our soccer matches BUT they go unchecked by the association. Are they genuine referees?

Kaindu blames everybody but himself, did he want the ref to score for Bevan Chikaka, if he is honest the ref should have sent one of his players for an early shower earlier on when he tripped Monya and followed up with stamping on him that is why Monya reacted and got himself a yellow card.
He wanted headbutters to continue playing soccer when all he can do is head butt others? Kaindu go back and improve the Zambian game that is where you belong.
Teach your players to shoot into the nets. Ndozvamunoita ku Zambia, improving soccer by teaching players to miss from that angle?

Dynamos perform better when everyone has written them off during in-house concerns. The Dynamos gaffer had a psychological advantage over Highlanders mentor, K. Kaindu, who eventually exhibited emotional and unwarranted sportmanship. Highlanders lost to a better team and Kaindu must learn to respect referees. The vociferous crowd that thronged the giant National Sports Stadium also ignited this derby match which had all thrills and fanfare. Compliments to the organisers of this year's Uhuru Cup.

That's how football in Zimbabwe is destroyed. First, the selection itself was biased. Top Four teams were supposed to be in semi-finals but they ended up hand-picking 'Drymost draw specialists' and Bosso. It was well organised in advance that Uhuru Trophy to be given to this Matapi FC. Ndosaka ichinorohwa 6-0, 3-0 in Caf Champions League because there is no favour there. The referee was totally biased against Highlanders. Come Sunday it will be five draws.

If Kaindu wants to think he came to improve soccer in this country then he is stupid. What has he done for Highlanders? What has he won for Highlanders? He came to work and improve his standard of life which he could not get in Zambia. Pack your bags before Highlanders fire you.

This little fellow called Kaindu is a confused lot. When his player fails to score with a keeper at his mercy is it the referee's problem? When his player head-butts another player and is shown the red card whose fault is it? As a coach he has failed. I think he is trying to find a scapegoat to his failures. On the notion that he came to improve soccer in Zim, I think it's an insult to all Zimbos as our soccer is miles ahead of Zambia. I think he should pack his bags and go. We all know the history of good soccer displays at Highlanders since the 1990s and how they used to win back-to-back championships. And now this Zambian cannot tell us about how he has come to improve Zim soccer. Which improvement?
