CAPS United head coach Taurai Mangwiro wants Mkhuphali "Cooper" Masuku back as assistant coach.
Brenna Msiska is assistant coach.
Masuku parted ways with the club in February a day after seven senior players were allegedly told not to train with the team by some sections of management.
In a telephone interview yesterday, Mangwiro said he wanted Masuku back at the Green Machine though he had nothing against Msiska.
"I do not want this to be taken the wrong way as if I have something against Msiska, he is a good coach in his own right but if things were to be done my way and if I was given a choice in the matter I would want to work with Masuku.
"Without taking away anything from the guys I am working with, I want to say I had a very good working relationship with Masuku and we understood each other quite well. I do understand however, that during my absence a lot happened, change of leadership and all, people see things differently and this is how I see things now," Mangwiro said.
Masuku has denied having a hand in the players' boycott.
"I wish them all the best in the campaign, I harbour no ill-feelings, perhaps someday I will return to complete what we started with Mangwiro last year. The club is a brand that should take its rightful place in Zimbabwe football," Masuku is on record as saying.
Interviewed yesterday Masuku said he had a good working relationship with Mangwiro. He said he would not mind working with the former Dynamos and Kismet star at Caps United but the onus was on the owners of the club.
