HIGHLANDERS forward Masimba Mambare is likely to be handed the arm band as the Warriors travel to Zambia for the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament set to kick off on July 6.
Mambare wore the arm band as Zimbabwe battled to a 1-1 draw against Malawi in an international friendly match last month with Harare City goalkeeper Maxwell Nyamupanedengu deputising him.
Warriors coach Klaus Dieter Pagels, who is expected back home from Germany next weekend ahead of the trip to Zambia, is set to retain the duo as the leaders of the team.
Zimbabwe has appeared in six finals and won four titles since the inauguration of the tournament in 1997. Now under Pagels, Zimbabwe would be out to claim a fifth Cosafa crown and successfully defend the crown they won on home soil in 2009.
The tournament returns after a three-year absence and Zimbabwe, who arrive in Zambia as defending champions after winning the 2009 edition they hosted- begin their campaign at the quarter final stage with a date against the Flames of Malawi on July 13.
