NATIONAL Under-20 and Bantu Rovers captain Nqobizitha Masuku is back from a two-week long trial at Germany's Bundesliga club Borrusia VFL Monchenladback.
The 19-year-old former Mzilikazi and Milton High School student flew out of the country at the beginning of the month to try his luck at a club which finished their 2012-13 season on position eight in the Bundesliga.
It was Masuku's second trip to Europe this year having attended a three-week trial at Cercle Brugge in Belgium in January.
Bantu Rovers' spokesman Wilbert Sibanda yesterday confirmed that the midfielder is back at their training ground and they are waiting for communication from the German club.
"Our captain (Masuku) is back from Germany and we are waiting for Borrusia VFL Monchenladback's technical report on the player. He was there for two weeks and has been training with the rest of Bantu Rovers squad since the beginning of the week," said Sibanda.
The former Premiership club is confident that the defensive midfielder made the grade.
"From the conversations we had with the player, as a club we are confident that he did well. Besides, this was a great opportunity for him to get exposed to world class training and I am sure that he has learnt a lot from his last two visits to Europe which will in turn develop his game," Sibanda said.
If Masuku makes the grade in Germany, he will become the second player from Bantu Rovers who the club nurtured from the junior level and moved abroad after Marvelous Nakamba who joined Tshintsha Guluva from Highlanders and spent a number of seasons at Bantu Rovers before going to France.
The gritty Masuku, gifted with commanding the midfield and giving cover for his defence has been a vital cog at Bantu Rovers.
