Chicken Inn utility player Kudakwashe Mahachi left the country yesterday for trials with South African Absa Premiership side Supersport.

Mahachi is expected to train with the team for one week under the watchful eyes of the team's technical department.

The opportunity could be a stepping stone for the country's reigning Rookie of the Year as it can see him scaling greater heights in his blossoming career.

In an interview before he left for the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport yesterday, Mahachi said he was excited about the opportunity and he won't let the opportunity slip.

"I am quite excited about the opportunity. It's a chance that I cannot let go begging. I know it could make the difference in my career as I am not only aiming at ending my career in South Africa but it could be a stepping stone to bigger things.

"While previously problems have arose with my moving out of the country, I am glad this opportunity has landed in my lap. That is why I am grabbing it with both hands," said the dribbling wizard, who said such opportunities came once in a lifetime, but he had confidence in his skills and that he will be out there to impress.

Mahachi, who is on loan to Chicken Inn from Bantu Rovers, had previously faced hurdles in moving to South Africa as the two teams haggled over the trial stint.

Bantu Rovers facilitated the current trial stint. Mahachi said his manager, Mlungisi Moyo, had come in and ensured the move went smoothly.

Mahachi is the fourth player from Chicken Inn who is on trials during the mid-season break.

The others are the league's top goal-scorer Tendai Ndoro, who is reportedly at Wits University, striker Mkhokheli Dube is at Mpumalanga Black Aces, while defender Felix Chindungwe is on the radar of an unnamed SA premiership club.

Chicken Inn chairman Lifa Ncube, however, said they were yet to get any letter seeking the services of the Warriors centre-back and 2012 Soccer Star of the Year finalist.

Ndoro is leading the race for the Golden Boot with 11 goals and he attracted attention at the 2013 Cosafa Castle Cup after banging in a brace when Zimbabwe beat Lesotho 2-1 in the semi-finals.

Ncube said they were not worried by the movement of their players as they had enough replacements.

"I believe we are strong this season and we have enough depth even if those players' moves succeed," he said.

The Innscor-sponsored team has already signed Clemence Matawu and Dylan Chivandire during the mid-season transfer window.
