Mashinkila Khumalo could quit Bosso

Willard Khumalo could quit rather than continue to face the rant of Highlanders fans who have vowed to force him out as the team's manager according to sources close to the club.
Allegations from some sections of the team's supporters are that there is bad blood between the legendary Highlanders son, Khumalo and head coach Kelvin Kaindu. The situation reached boiling point when fans demonstrated after Bosso lost 0-2 to resurgent Caps United in a friendly match played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.
Some of the demonstrating Highlanders fans accused the former national team stalwart of undermining the authority of Kaindu. They claimed Khumalo was working in cahoots with some executive members who wanted to find an excuse to fire Kaindu.
Bosso fans are accusing the qualified coach who was appointed welfare manager for gross interference in the team selection and technical decisions.
Some of the allegations against Khumalo are clearly misplaced because some of the fans seem to be ignorant of his duties as a manager. They, for example, accuse Khumalo of making substitutions yet it's his duty to liaise with the fourth official whenever the team wants to make a substitution.
Khumalo suffered verbal attacks from a disappointed home crowd following last Sunday's loss to Caps United. The handful of Highlanders supporters at the Soweto stand hauled all unpublishable insults at Mashinkila Khumalo.
After the match, Khumalo is said to have confided that he would rather quit than continue to be humiliated.
Kaindu has maintained his relationship with Khumalo is strong while Highlanders chairman Peter Dube has continued to play down any issues regarding having Khumalo as part of the team set up.
"I really do not think Willard is eyeing Kaindu's position as alleged by some people," said Highlanders chairman.
