Exciting Warriors midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi remains a Bantu Rovers player and has not signed for South African moneybags Mamelodi Sundowns, the Zifa Southern Region Division One outfit's manager has confirmed.
Bantu Rovers' latest utterance follows media reports that Mahachi had signed for the Brazilians, and loaned to Highlanders for a six-month period, after a fruitful outing at the just ended Orange African Nations Championship (Chan) competition where the Warriors finished fourth.
Wilbert Sibanda, the Bantu Rovers manager said negotiations were ongoing between the Bulawayo-based side and Sundowns, dismissing as speculation media reports to the effect that the enterprising Zimbabwe international and former Chicken Inn midfielder had been loaned to Highlanders from Sundowns.
"Mahachi still remains our player until a deal is reached between us and the South African club that we are currently in talks with, but I believe a deal will be reached soon once we tie up a few loose ends," said Sibanda.
"I do not know where you guys have been getting that from. As far as we know, Mahachi is still our player and was never loaned to Highlanders by either us or Sundowns. We just learnt it from media reports."
The first division side, which was relegated from the top flight league at the end of the 2010 season, is targeting a premiership return and has started intensifying its preparations for promotion campaign.
"We have been working on our return to the top flight and we have been talking to some top players.
"These will be surprise packages that should help our promotion push and we are likely to unveil them by the end of the week," said Sibanda.
